Shugo chara amuto romance chapter 26

WHY?

Amu ran away from the two as tears spilled down her face. She had been sent shopping for Ikuto when she had heard Tadase yell, she never expected to find something like THAT! She remembered the shopping she’d been asked to get and took a back route to the supermarket. ‘I thought you said you loved ME Tadase’ she thought. Her eyes were glassy but unfocused as she trailed down each aisle, not really seeing anything as the image of Kurumi and Tadase together stuck in her head. ‘And Kurumi, you know I love Tadase, so why are you doing this? You’re a demon, you don’t belong with a human…why are you here? What is it in this world that keeps you here?’ she thought as she reached the checkout. She would drop off the groceries, go straight to Kurumi’s house and question her until she told everything she knew! “Amu-chan, what’s wrong?” Ran asked, “nothing, Ran” she answered, “something’s wrong” Miki stated, “its nothing guys, really” Amu said, smiling half heartedly at the four of them and though about the final egg in her chara pouch. She didn’t know that the red had just gone slightly darker in colour as she though about Kurumi. Instead, she though back to her plan of questioning Kurumi. ‘Be rid of shopping, run home, corner the demon girl’ she though to herself, over and over.

And she did just that! After dumping the bag of shopping in front of Ikuto’s door and ringing the doorbell she ran to Kurumi’s house as fast as she could, even Ran having trouble keeping up with her! She hammered on Kurumi’s door to find Midnight opening it, “oh, hello Amu, Kurumi and Aleisha are in the front room, she told me to expect you to come sometime soon” the dark chara said as Kuroro met her at the door, “hello Amu, before you go in there, can you help me for a moment?” she asked, she was carrying a chara egg wrapped in black chains. Amu stopped for a moment and looked at the egg, “I’ll be right back” she said, walking into the front room instead. Kurumi had changed into a pair of light shorts and a halter neck top. Next to her, Aleisha sat with Kurumi’s leg lying on her lap, the two angel’s wing on Kurumi’s back were spread out in a sphere around them both with an opening at the front. There was a deep gash down Kurumi’s calf bone, Amu could even see something white poking through, but what was the scariest thing was Kurumi’s blood. It was deep purple. “Is it natural for her to have purple blood?” she asked, Aleisha’s eyes looked up in surprise, “Oh, hello Amu” Aleisha said cheerfully. “Sorry about this, we’re just running through a couple of healing spells for Kurumi’s leg” she said. Kurumi wouldn’t look at Amu; she kept her eyes focused on her leg. “Hold still” Aleisha said. Amu watched attentively, she’d never properly seen Demon magic taking place before.

Aleisha’s canine teeth grew a few inches, to the length of vampire fangs; she leaned down to Kurumi’s leg and began to suck up all the dark purple blood from around, and inside, the wound. Kurumi winced in pain then she stopped, her eyes became misty and she fell asleep against the side of the sofa. Amu’s eyes widened and she looked questionably at Aleisha, “when a demon takes the blood out of a wound like that it means that you need to replace it with a little of your own, for a demon, when this happens it acts like an anaesthetic, it knocks them out for about an hour” Aleisha explained. Amu saw what she meant; there was a little mix of crimson mixed with the purple. Now that the blood was gone Amu could see the wound properly. It was deep, and the bone was slightly visible through the pale flesh. Aleisha put her hand against the wound and closed her eyes, “gorinem dexmeir rubrino tashnei, nomm Firisen dem Denisu” Aleisha chanted. Amu watched as the wound healed itself, leaving only a scar behind.

“What was that chant?” Amu asked when Aleisha opened her eyes again, “a chant in the old language, spoken during the times when the great demon goddess Lady Himali walked the land of our realms, now it’s the only way we can wield most of our magic unless the spell has no verbal requirements” Aleisha said, “what does it mean?” “It means ‘I give my power so the wound will be healed, from Aleisha to Kurumi’ in the old scriptures” Aleisha said. “Firisen is my name in the old language, I only ever use it in spells” Aleisha added. Amu thought back to New Years Eve, “what does…Aztres, Moneda, Hitima, Reau…Biza, Renka, Denisu…mean?” Amu asked. Aleisha froze for a moment before replying, “It means ‘I command the gate of the moon, Thy name is Kurumi” she replied, “Denisu…is that Kurumi’s name in the old language?” Amu asked again. Aleisha nodded. At that moment Kuroro came through the door carrying the chained egg, “Nori is getting really agitated; will one of you help me get her out already?” she asked.

Aleisha laughed and took hold of the egg, “Amu, will you help me?” she asked. Amu jumped, “w-why? I’m not a demon!” she stuttered. Aleisha laughed, “You can see Kurumi’s natural blood colour, that means you have SOME form of Demonic energy in you!” Aleisha explained, “natural blood colour?” Amu questioned, “Demon’s can disguise anything unnatural about themselves, for you to be able to see her blood for what it’s real colour is means that you have some sort of demonic power in your veins, maybe you ancestor married a demon without knowing it!” Aleisha joked. Amu smiled internally, ‘wow, I have demon power!’ she thought. Suddenly, she felt something twitch against her side and she looked at her chara pouch. Ran, Miki, Suu, and Dia were out at one of Kiseki’s guardian meetings…that…only…left…“oh man” Amu muttered. “Come here, I’ll show you what you can do” Aleisha said. Kurumi’s wings were still frozen in a sphere around them despite her being unconscious; it felt like a dark hospital ward when Amu and Kuroro stepped into the gap. “Alright, put your hand here Amu” Aleisha said, pointing. Aleisha put her hand around the egg on the other side so it made a sort of cage around it, “now, close your eyes… block off all your senses and repeat after me…Heama ko breamsing” “He-Heama ko b-breamsing” Amu recited as best she could. The black chains turned white, snapped and another chara came out, “so, you’re Nori, huh?” Amu said. The little chara nodded, “nice to properly meet you Amu” she said.

“So, Nori, what happened?” Aleisha asked. Nori and Amu explained everything that had happened at Ikuto’s but then Nori explained what happened after:

“Nada grabbed Kurumi around the waist while we were character transformed; he flew off with her until her eventually landed after Kurumi kicked him. He dropped into an alleyway and pinned Kurumi to the wall. His hand started glowing and he actually reached inside of Kurumi and pulled me out of her, breaking the character transformation and causing Kurumi to scream really loudly. After that I couldn’t open my egg. I heard a lot of shouting and ripping and snapping, then I could feel Kurumi’s pain, and I could hear Nada trying to coax her into agreeing to either die or join him, But I couldn’t tell which” Nori finished.

Eventually Amu decided to go home; she knew Ikuto was just going to punish her if she went back to his house. After a quick bite of late lunch she went to her bedroom. She stayed there for hours until the sun had gone down, ‘oh damn! I forgot to question Kurumi!’ Amu thought. Just then there was a movement outside Amu’s balcony. ‘It’s probably Ikuto, come to yell at me’ Amu thought. She went and unlocked the door to be pulled into a tight embrace, “so nice to see you again Amu” a voice whispered. Amu struggled against Nada’s arms until something tore them apart. “Are you sure you want to go through it again? Nada?” Kurumi asked, but she was different. More like a poison than the happy, perky girl they were used to seeing. Nada hissed and looked at Amu, “don’t think I’ve given up, Amu” he said. He then leapt away. “Amu, Nada’s probably told you things that have made you confused, right?” Kurumi asked, without facing her. Amu whispered ‘yes’ for a reply. He had made her confused, what had he meant when he’d said Alice had nearly died, and that her friends would have to become demons for them to be with the person they love? There were so many other questions she wanted answers to!

Kurumi finally turned to face Amu, “anything you want to know, ask it tomorrow. Call everyone, invite them to my house, we’re not going to lie to you, even Alice will tell you what happened if you ask, but just wait until tomorrow” Kurumi said, jumping to her balcony and going indoors. Amu did as asked and rang the others until she had nothing to do, then she began to compose a list of question that she would ask…
